The Writer's Corner

May 2008

Atiya (Tia) Malak

"My Scribble"

My scribble is what ever I write when I am in what some refer to as an artistic mood

My scribble can be emotional and sometimes a down right trip

My scribble can be political or raw and some times my scribble ain't worth shit

but my scribble displays the many sides of me

the world I see and truth about reality

My scribble is heart leakage from a valve that can't be repaired

My scribble is a string of brain farts when the frontal lobe needs to relieve some pressure out into the air

My scribble is "girl let me tell you what happened today"

My scribble is ....hey baby come in sit down and tell me all about your day

My scribble was once roses are red and violets are blue

My scribble has been about the flowers

My scribble has been about being in trouble with my parents

My scribble has been about my first crush

My scribble was about my first love

My scribble was all about my hopes and dreams

My scribble has been about hip hop and r&b

My scribble has been about my aunts my mentors

My scribble was about people I've seen in the strreet ..pimps and whores

drug dealers and homeless sleeping by passing feet

My scribble has been about heartbreak

jail bait and friendship

My scribble has been about foster care, marriage and military years

My scribble has been about parent hood and falling in love again

My scribble is made up of my childhood that formed and brought me into adulthood and all of the reformation and renovations that I have made thus far

My scribble is often my heart and soul that I share with all of y'all

Her life experiences from foster care through parenthood, marriage and separations, from being a rapper /ballerina to a soldier and a Christian are what inspires her … makes her. Atiya shares her poetry and her stories the only way she knows how….from the heart.
